FREQUENTLY
ASKED QUESTIONS
- Do you host international
domains?
Yes. We host all types of domains with any global
top-level domain extensions or country code extensions.
- Where are your servers located?
All our servers are located in the United States.
- Can I add additional domains
under one account?
Yes. You can add additional domains under your master
domain account. Use a sub-directory as the added-domain's
home directory. All domains will have their own homepages
and emails. Click here for
more information.
- Can I upgrade my current hosting
plan?
Yes. There will be an one-time setup fee.
- Can I switch from Unix plan to
Windows 2000 plan, or vice versa?
Yes. There will be an one-time setup fee.
- Is the space for MySQL databases and
MS SQL server database included in my account's disk
space?
Yes. If needed, however, more space can be provided for
MySQL database with no additional cost (200MB is initially
provided to Linux Basic/Standard plans). There is a space
limit for MS SQL server databases.
- How much does it cost for extra
database space?
No additional cost for MySQL database and MS Access
database. There will be an additional charge if more space
is needed for MS SQL Server database.
- Do you support ASP and JSP?
We support ASP on Windows 2000 servers. JSP is currently
not supported.
- What Cold Fusion tags are disabled on
Windows 2000 servers?
For security reasons, the following Cold Fusion tags are
disabled on all shared servers: <CFFILE>, <CFDIRECTORY>,
<CFCONTENT>, <CFOBJECT>, <CFEXECUTE>,
<CFX>, <CFREGISTRY>.
- Can I run executable program such as
.exe, .dll, etc. under my Windows 2000 hosting plan?
For security reason, we do not allow customer's executable
programs to be installed on our shared Windows 2000
hosting servers. However, you can run Active Server Page
(ASP), and PHP as well as Cold Fusion. Perl CGI scripts
can be run on Windows 2000 servers, but need a review and
approval with a fee. Perl CGI scripts can be run on Linux
Servers without an approval.
- Can I resell your web hosting plans?
Yes. For resellers, we provide 100% anonymity. You can
have your own namesevers (i.e. ns1.You.com
and ns2.You.com). You can design your own
hosting plans. Hosting unlimited domains and sub-domains
in one big account. Click
here for more information about our resellers plans.
- How do I request an upgrade or add a
new feature or simply make payment?
Please use our Add-on and Payment Form, click
here.
- When I upload files via FTP, why is it slow to list directories and
files?
It is probably because you used "Passive Transfer
Mode" in your FTP client program which is usually the
default setting. Depending on what FTP client program you
use, if you use WS_FTP, you can go to "Option"
-> "Sessions", and then uncheck "Passive
Transfer Mode". In addition, make sure you set
"Host Type" as "Auto detect."
- After I changed the permission of my
"cgi-bin" directory to "rwxrwxrwx", I
can not run cgi scripts and get an error message.
Permission of "cgi-bin" directory is set up
properly after your account is created. Please do not try
to change it. For security reason, you should not set the permission of
"cgi-bin" directory to "rwxrwxrwx"
which potentially allows everyone to read and change
scripts in your "cgi-bin" directory. The correct
permission for "cgi-bin" directory is "rwxr-x--x".
- What is the correct permission setting
for my cgi scripts?
On most of our servers, you can set the permission of cgi
scripts to "700" or "rwx------". Users
can run your cgi scripts from web browser, but they can
not view your cgi scripts. If you use ".cgi" as
the extension, you can run is anywhere (i.e. inside and
outside of "cgi-bin" directory). On some of our
servers, you may need to set the permission of cgi scripts
to "rwxr-xr-x" (or 755) and put them in "cgi-bin"
directory.
- I use a cgi script to write data to a
file. Should I set the permission of that file to all
writable (i.e. "rw-rw-rw-")?
No. You do not have to. You can just set the permission to
"rw-------".
- What is your Network Connectivity?
Your web site will be hosted within our primary
state-of-the-art data center. The data center has fully
redundant power, air-conditioning and fiber connectivity.
It has 5 T3 connections to the Internet each connecting
thru OC-48 or OC-192 connections for fast and extremely
reliable connectivity. It also has 10 backup T1
connections used in case of emergency fiber cuts.
- Should I use Windows servers or
Linux/Unix servers?
In terms of reliability, easy to use, speed and
functionalities, there is no significant difference
between Windows and Linux/Unix servers. Both platforms can
serve your hosting needs well. However, the price for
Linux/Unix servers are generally lower than Windows
servers because most of software licenses used on
Linux/Unix servers are free.
If you like the flexibility and power to login the server
via Telnet or SSH, then you may want to use Linux/Unix
servers. If you use Microsoft's proprietary technologies
such Active Server Pages (ASP), MS Access, MS SQL server
databases and other related programs (e.g. ColdFusion,
etc), then you may want to stick with Windows servers.
Otherwise, you can choose either one.

<meta http-equiv="Refresh" content="1;
url=http://yahoo.com">

- I want to forward my website to
another site but want to keep my domain or URL on the web
browser's address bar (Cloaked URL), how do I do it?

<frameset rows="100%,*" frameborder="0"
border="0" framespacing="0"
